The New Jersey Rockets are proud to announce that a former player, David Kolomatis was the first player selected in the 5th round of the National Hockey League draft (126 overall) by the Los Angeles Kings.
David was a member of the NJ Rockets Youth program from Squirt to Midget and Junior player during his career with the Rockets.
As a 15 year old David played for the Rockets AJHL (Jr. A) team before moving on to the US National Team Develpment Program for a year and then the Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League. During the 2008 - 2009 season, David was selected as captain of the team and scored a total of 18 goals during the regular season, second among defensemen.
At the completion of the Owen Sound season, he signed an ATO with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey and competed in four regular season and 16 playoff games.
This has been a post season to remember for the Kolomatis family as his brother Dan, also a long time Rocket player has been selected to play for the Chicago Steel in the USHL next season.
We congratulate David and Dan on their accomplishments and look forward to following their careers.
